An electric cooperative in Surigao del Sur has tapped in a unit of the AboitizPower for a two-megawatt (MW) power supply deal for 2018.
The Surigao del Sur 1 Electric Cooperative Inc. (SURSECO 1) signed a power supply agreement (PSA) with Hedcor Bukidnon for two-MW of electricity supply.
SURSECO 1 serves 138 barangays from Lingig, Bislig, Tagbina, Barobo, Hinatuan, Lianga, and San Agustin in the province of Surigao del Sur.
Apart from SURSECO 1, Hedcor also provides power to Zamboanga del Sur Cooperatives 1 and 2, Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative, Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative, Siargao Electric Cooperative, and Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative.
Hedcor has a combined capacity of 185 MW of hydro energy located in Davao, Benguet and Ilocos Sur.
The subsidiary will also have a new generating capacity from its 68.8 MW hydropower facility in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon which is set for commercial operations in 2017 or 2018.
AboitizPower and its partners currently have 787-MW of renewable energy in its portfolio that make up 62 percent of the total 1,263 MW renewable capacity.
