Three Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES) have been granted licenses by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to partake in the retail competition and open access (RCOA) scheme.
The ERC said in a statement that Manta Energy Inc., FDC Retail Electricity Sales Corp., and Millennium Power RESI Inc. have been awarded RES licenses after the power firms were able to comply with the technical, financial, and administrative requirements in getting the license.
“The ERC will constantly monitor the adherence of Manta, FDC RES Corp., and Millennium RES to the terms and conditions attached to the RES License, and to ensure their adherence to best business practices in retailing electricity services,” ERC chairman and CEO Jose Vicente Salazar said.
Since starting in June 2013, contestable consumers with at least a one-megawatt (MW) demand are allowed to choose their electricity supplier.
