In Pakil, Laguna, a broad network of programs under Ahunan Power Inc.’s Tayo Na Pakil initiative is transforming daily life while advancing 13 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Designed to work alongside the company’s 1,400 MW pumped storage project, the program delivers targeted support in disaster preparedness, health, education, livelihood, and environmental stewardship.
In July 2025, residents affected by heavy rains received food packs, medicines, and feeding program support. The PAKILigtas Disaster Management Program also trains schools and households on climate change adaptation, emergency response, and preparedness, and distributes Go Bags stocked with essential supplies.
Medical missions, eye wellness programs for children and senior citizens, and school-based feeding initiatives have reached over 3,000 residents. These programs aim to improve health outcomes and support long-term community well-being.
Over 7,000 students have participated in school-based initiatives, with facilities upgraded through canteen construction and ICT room repairs at Pakil Senior High School. Sixty technical-vocational scholars and nearly 100 livelihood trainees have been supported, with courses in welding and heavy equipment operation offered in partnership with TESDA.
Teacher Leah Mendiola said the Youth Leadership Program and climate change awareness activities have been especially impactful. “Lagi niyong isinasaalang-alang ang kinabukasan ng mga kabataan… ay naging malaking bahagi para sa ikakaunlad ng mga mag-aaral,” she noted.
The flagship PAKILight program has trained over 70 women in candle and paper bag production, leading to the creation of Tanglaw Women of Pakil, a micro-enterprise generating steady income for members. “Maraming salamat sa binigay ninyong pagkakataon… naturuan upang makatulong kami sa aming mga pamilya,” said participant Lea Carizo.
Waste management seminars, including Bokashi composting training, have been introduced alongside cleanup drives organized by community volunteers. Annual Brigada Eskwela participation and financial literacy workshops have further strengthened local engagement.
Launched in 2022 with Prime Infra Foundation, Tayo Na Pakil reflects Ahunan Power’s commitment to socially inclusive growth for host communities. The company credits strong provincial stakeholder support for ensuring the program’s success and alignment with long-term development goals.
“We have always sought to create a socially inclusive environment for our host communities, and we are proud to do so through the Tayo Na Pakil program. The program is designed to respond to the needs of Pakileños, offering a diverse range of initiatives that address various aspects of community life — from education to livelihood,” the company said.
“The strong support of our provincial stakeholders has been vital to ensuring the program’s effective implementation and to reinforcing our community engagement efforts. With this partnership, we are confident in helping shape a brighter and more sustainable future for Pakil,” it added.
