Singapore’s TotalEnergies ENEOS is set to construct a 16.8-megawatt-peak rooftop solar photovoltaic system, supporting Real Steel Corp. (RSC) in its efforts to drive sustainability in the steel manufacturing industry.
According to a report by the Philippine Star, the collaborative PV project is the largest rooftop solar photovoltaic system in the Philippines. It will be developed at RSC’s manufacturing facility in San Simon, Pampanga.
The project involves the installation of more than 22,000 solar modules, generating 26,000 megawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually and reducing RSC’s carbon emissions by around 12,800 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
TotalEnergies ENEOS will be responsible for maintaining the solar photovoltaic system, while RSC will be the owner and operator from the commissioning phase.
The proposed business model by TotalEnergies ENEOS ensures a neutral cash flow for RSC during the first 10 years of their partnership. Afterward, RSC will fully benefit from the asset for about 30 years.
TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Director Elodie Ranaud expressed their eagerness for the partnership, stressing their commitment to providing renewable energy for RSC’s facilities and contributing to its growth and long-term sustainability goals.
TotalEnergies ENEOS is an alliance of the global multi-energy firm TotalEnergies and Asian energy and materials company ENEOS.
On the other hand, RSC is a producer of steel-deformed bars dedicated to promoting sustainable practices within the steel industry.
