Trinasolar International Systems Business Unit (ISBU), the global project development arm of China-based solar technology giant Trinasolar Co. Ltd., has signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with AdventEnergy, an AboitizPower subsidiary, for the 49.9 MWac / 60.21 MWp Mabini Solar Project in Barangay San Pedro, Mabini, Pangasinan.
The Mabini Solar Project, which has secured Green Lane Certification from the Board of Investments (BOI), is Trinasolar ISBU’s first greenfield development in the Philippines. Commercial operations are expected to begin by the third quarter of 2026. Once online, the facility is projected to generate 110.84 GWh of renewable electricity annually—enough to power more than 24,000 households—and cut carbon dioxide emissions by around 76,549 tons per year.
The agreement, announced by Trinasolar on LinkedIn, was formally sealed during a ceremony on September 26. Among those present were Trinasolar’s Southeast Asia Development Managers Janey Ma and Ren Noel Peter Gutierrez, and Asia Pacific M&A Manager Peter Si. Representing AdventEnergy were President James Byron Yu, Vice President for Retail Operations and Portfolio Management John Davis Mangubat, and Assistant Vice President for Retail Operations Rence Pazcoguin.
“The Mabini Solar Project shows what can be achieved through strong cooperation between Advent and Trinasolar,” said Derek Wang, Southeast Asia Country Manager of Trinasolar ISBU. “Together, we are advancing the country’s renewable energy goals and creating lasting value for local communities.”
AdventEnergy President James Yu said the project goes beyond expanding the company’s retail supply portfolio. “We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Trinasolar as we bring a stronger and more sustainable energy future to our customers and deliver lasting impact to the industries we serve.”
