Vivant Corporation has sustained power and water services in northern Cebu following last week’s earthquake, while mobilizing relief assistance through its subsidiaries and foundation.

Isla Norte Power Corp. (INPC), a subsidiary of Vivant Energy, maintained operations in Bantayan Island despite the tremor, allowing the area to remain energized. Meridian Power Inc. (MPI) also continued to run at full capacity to support the Visayas grid, which the Department of Energy (DOE) placed under yellow alert after 1,444 megawatts of capacity were lost from tripped power plants.

To address water supply disruptions, Vivant Water deployed a mobile treatment system capable of producing up to 150,000 liters of potable water per day. The unit, developed with Watermatic Phils. and Treasure Island Industrial Corp., sources water from rivers or deep wells, treats it onsite, and delivers it to local tanks in Bogo and Medellin for distribution to residents.

Vivant Water also sent tankers carrying desalinated water from its Isla Mactan Desalination Plant to municipalities in northern Cebu, where several pipelines and treatment stations were damaged by the quake.

“Despite the challenges, we remain committed to ensuring communities have continued access to power and safe drinking water,” Vivant said in an official statement.

Relief operations were conducted by Vivant Foundation, in partnership with the Peace and Equity Foundation, local government units, and Task Force Linog — a multi-sectoral network composed of schools, NGOs, faith-based groups, and media organizations. Food and essential supplies were distributed to displaced families.

Vivant said the company’s initiatives form part of its broader mission to strengthen energy and water resilience in the Visayas and to support communities during emergencies.
