Philippine Seven Corporation, the operator of 7-Eleven convenience stores in the country, is transitioning more than 1,450 branches to 100% renewable electricity through a supply agreement with ACEN RES, marking one of the largest retail-sector clean energy switches enabled under the government’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP).
The RAP framework allows electricity users to consolidate demand across multiple sites to directly contract with licensed retail electricity suppliers, a structure that has enabled large-scale distributed operations to shift away from conventional supply without requiring on-site generation or new infrastructure.
The supply covers stores across Metro Manila, Batangas, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija, with further expansion expected as 7-Eleven continues network growth. The company described the rollout as the largest retail store network in the country to participate in the RAP mechanism.
Electricity for the stores will be sourced from ACEN Corporation’s renewable portfolio, which includes solar, wind, and geothermal assets across the country. ACEN RES is currently positioned as a leading green energy supplier in the competitive retail electricity market, based on Energy Regulatory Commission data cited in the announcement.
“Our collaboration with ACEN RES is a cornerstone of Philippine Seven Corporation’s growth and sustainability strategy,” said Jose Victor Paterno, Chairman of Philippine Seven Corporation.
“Recent global energy disruptions have highlighted the vulnerability of local businesses; by shifting to indigenous renewable sources, we are effectively shielding our operations from market volatility,” he added. “Beyond resilience, we are aligning ourselves with an increasingly eco-conscious consumer base. This transition doesn’t just green our power—it invites our customers to join us on a meaningful journey toward a sustainable future.”
“Our goal has always been to champion the country’s renewable energy ambitions by making the switch seamless for businesses,” said Eric Francia, ACEN President and Chief Executive Officer. “Bringing 7-Eleven Philippines into the fold is a massive milestone. As the largest convenience store network in the country, their commitment accelerates our collective progress toward a sustainable, renewable-powered economy.”
As part of the transition, ACEN RES awarded 7-Eleven Philippines its “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, recognizing commercial customers sourcing 100% renewable electricity through its retail supply platform.
7-Eleven Philippines currently operates more than 4,500 stores nationwide.
How significant is this RAP-enabled retail aggregation model in accelerating corporate renewable energy adoption in the Philippines—and could it become the default pathway for multi-site commercial power procurement?
