Berde Renewables has secured a three-year agreement to procure 200 megawatts (MW) of solar inverters and 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS), strengthening its pipeline of renewable energy projects in the Philippines and Thailand as demand for solar-plus-storage continues to grow.

The agreement, signed with Sungrow Power and its regional distributor Solar Hive, covers the supply of solar inverters and battery storage systems under a Master Framework Agreement (MFA).

The deal gives Berde priority access to Sungrow’s equipment and regional supply chain, allowing the company to accelerate the rollout of commercial and industrial solar projects while expanding battery storage offerings for customers.

Patrick Zhu, chief executive officer of Berde Renewables, said the agreement marks a significant step in the company’s regional expansion and growing battery storage portfolio.

“The combination of 200MW of solar and 500MWh of battery storage is a major step forward for our business and a meaningful milestone, especially for battery storage in the Philippines as demand grows for more flexible and resilient energy solutions,” he said.

Battery storage is expected to play a larger role in the Philippine power sector as more variable renewable energy enters the grid, enabling daytime solar generation to be shifted to evening demand while supporting grid stability.

Under the partnership, Berde will deploy Sungrow’s solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV charging technologies, and smart energy solutions, while Solar Hive will provide logistics, technical support, spare parts, and after-sales services across the Philippines and Thailand.

The companies also agreed to collaborate on technical training, market development, stakeholder engagement, and potential co-investment and vendor financing opportunities for selected projects.

Michael Ruan, regional director for Southeast Asia at Sungrow Power, said the partnership aims to accelerate clean energy deployment in the region.

“Sungrow, as the globally leading PV inverter and energy storage system provider, is confident it will help Berde Renewables accelerate the deployment of reliable, high-performance clean energy across Southeast Asia,” he said.

Berde develops renewable energy projects under a power purchase agreement (PPA) model, financing, building, owning, and operating customer-owned solar facilities before transferring ownership at the end of the contract.
