After achieving its 2022 pledge to sourcing renewable energy for at least 50 percent of its electricity consumption, SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime) continues to strive for renewable energy initiatives by committing to its net-zero goal by 2040,
SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim said according to a report by the Manila Times that the company strives to achieve net zero emissions or balance in terms of their generated greenhouse gas with emissions reduction activities and has already established both its short-term and long-term science-based targets for 2030 and 2035.
SM Prime has been working with its partner, WWF-Philippines, since 2007 to pursue its commitments and targets in accordance with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) goal to boost the RE supply in the Philippines.
The company also recognizes the pressing importance of acting decisively, thus putting climate action and the transition to a net-zero business on top of its sustainability agenda. SM Prime continuously integrates climate health, resilient design, and disaster risk reduction into its construction and design activities.
SM Prime said that it will continue to support the transition of renewable energy through direct sourcing. It looks to address climate change by expanding its RE portfolio and optimizing energy efficiency.
