DMCI Power Corporation caught sight of an increase in energy sales last year, rising from 426 gigawatt-hours (GWh) to 454 GWh, almost 7%.
In a report by the Philippine Star, DMCI Power president Antonio Gatdula Jr. said that the corporation observed an increase for 11 consecutive quarters due to demand and investments.
Additionally, in 2023, Palawan became the company’s largest market after Masbate as the company’s largest market, accounting for 44% of total sales volume. This growth was attributed to an increase in energy sales on the island, which went from 179 GWh to 200 GWh, a 12% increase, due to improved capacity and demand.
Meanwhile, Masbate accounted for 34% of DMCI’s total sales volume, experiencing a 5% increase from 148 GWh to 156 GWh due to higher demand. However, Oriental Mindoro represented 22% of the sales volume, seeing a 2% decline from 99 GWh to 97 GWh due to the increased availability of renewable energy power plants.
In other developments, the company loaded 160 megawatts (MW) of capacity by the end of 2023, an increase of 17% over the year before.
At the same time as a rise in both domestic and foreign visitor numbers, DMCI also began operating its Php 1.5 billion thermal power plant in the province for profit.
