The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) has partnered with WindStream Energy Technologies India Pvt Ltd. for the implementation of renewable energy (RE) technologies in small communities.
In a report by The Manila Times, PNOC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian-based firm to administer its hybrid wind-solar RE system, touted as “SolarMill technology,” in the country.
Due to its compact size, around 2.27×1.13×1.5 meters, and its weight of around 100 kilograms, SolarMill is an adaptable and modular clean energy solution that can be deployed in a variety of places, including isolated and rugged terrain.
It also has combined magnet generators and vertical-axis wind turbines with solar panels.
The oil company said that this partnership would bolster the National Power Corporation’s hybridization program for Small Power Utility Group areas.
The program aims to improve off-grid groups’ access to energy and sustainability, much like it does with the combination of diesel-powered generating with solar and wind power.
