Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) is urging generating companies (gencos) to place offers for its supply requirements starting next year.
“We urge prospective bidders to submit their best offers for Meralco’s 600 MW and 400 MW supply requirements for next year. We look forward to receiving competitive offers that will help us fulfill our mandate of providing reliable and least-cost electricity to our customers,” said MERALCO Bids and Awards Committee for Power Supply Agreements Chairman Lawrence S. Fernandez.
This call came after the Taguig Regional Trial Court (RTC) dismissed the petition for an injunction on the Competitive Selection Process (CSP) and rendered its previously granted Temporary Restraining Order ineffective.
The Bids and Awards Committee has scheduled the Bid Submission Deadline for its 600 MW requirement on August 27. Meanwhile, for the 400 MW requirement, the Pre-Bid Conference is set for August 29, with the Bid Submission Deadline slated for October 1.
“We would also like to reiterate that the CSPs are being conducted in compliance with the rules and guidelines set by the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission. We remain dedicated to conducting this process with utmost transparency and fairness,” said MERALCO in a statement.
