More than 330 students from 11 schools participated in the Young Engineers and Scientists Summit (YESS), a learning symposium organized by MERALCO Power Academy (MPA) to inspire innovation and career development in the energy sector.
“The power sector is full of untapped potential, and there is no better time than now for all of you to get involved, explore new avenues, and continue to innovate,” said MPA President Nixon G. Hao.
Held in Pasig City, the event aimed to empower young minds with knowledge and skills to reshape the future through creativity and technological advancements.
MERALCO Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho explained that the summit reflects MPA’s commitment to nurturing world-class Filipino talent in engineering and science.
Students were introduced to key concepts such as innovation frameworks, the Japanese principle of “ikigai” or “reason for living,” and career opportunities in the power industry.
Industry experts from New Energy Nexus, Ikigai Philippines, and MERALCO led discussions on how young engineers and scientists can contribute to the energy sector through bold, forward-thinking ideas.
Participating institutions included La Salle Greenhills, National University – Nazareth School, Mapúa University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and Technological Institute of the Philippines, among others.
By fostering innovation and career readiness, YESS aims to shape the next generation of scientists and engineers who will lead the country’s energy transformation. Discover how YESS is transforming the next generation—stay informed with Power Philippines!
