ERC Approves Grid Interconnection for Alternergy’s Alabat Wind Project

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved the application of Alabat Wind Power Corporation (AWPC), a subsidiary of Alternergy Holdings Corporation, to develop a dedicated transmission facility to connect its Alabat Wind Power Project to the Luzon grid.

The approval allows AWPC to construct a 37-kilometer point-to-point transmission line and substation from Barangay Villa Norte in Alabat to Barangay Hondagua in Lopez, Quezon. The facility will connect to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) existing 69kV Gumaca-Tagkawayan-Lopez line via a switching station.

“This is another significant milestone achieved, bringing us closer to completing the Alabat Wind Power Project,” said AWPC President Gerry P. Magbanua. He expressed sincere gratitude to the ERC and NGCP for support in enabling the delivery of clean power to the grid.

“With this approval, AWPC reaffirms our goal of promoting environmental stewardship through the development of renewable energy resources and supporting our host communities while ensuring a reliable and efficient energy supply to the grid,” he added.

The Alabat Wind Power Project is one of five renewable energy developments currently under construction under Alternergy’s “Road to 500 MW” capacity target by 2026. The company’s portfolio includes projects in wind, solar, run-of-river hydro, rooftop solar, battery storage, and offshore wind.
