Prime Infra’s Ahunan Power, OVWPI Recognized by LLDA for Sustainability and Livelihood Initiatives

Prime Infra-led subsidiaries Ahunan Power Inc. and Olympia Violago Water and Power Inc. (OVWPI) received Bantayog Para sa Kabuhayan Awards from the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) for their community partnership programs that combine infrastructure development with livelihood and social progress in the Laguna de Bay area.

The recognition was conferred during the Bantayog ng Lawa awarding ceremony on October 10, which highlights contributions to the sustainable development and welfare of communities surrounding Laguna de Bay.

Both companies were cited for improving health access, providing livelihood opportunities, and strengthening community resilience in their host areas.

Ahunan Power was recognized for its Tayo Na Pakil program, launched in 2022, which focuses on improving access to health services, women’s empowerment, and disaster preparedness in Pakil, Laguna. The program began with a comprehensive needs assessment identifying limited healthcare access and employment opportunities as key concerns in the community.

Prime Infra Foundation Programs and Operations Head Bernadette Tan said the assessment identified limited access to essential health services—particularly dental and optical care—as well as livelihood and employment opportunities as key concerns. These findings became the foundation of Ahunan Power’s long-term social investment programs, aimed at improving overall well-being and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local residents.

Under Tayo Na Pakil, the PAKILight initiative trained 70 women in candle and paper bag production, forming the Tanglaw Women of Pakil—a micro-enterprise that generates income and supports local families. Another component, PAKILigtas, strengthens disaster resilience through climate education and emergency preparedness for households and schools, providing Go Bags with essential supplies.

OVWPI, meanwhile, was cited for its Kilos Calawis program, launched in 2024, which focuses on skills-based training for residents in its project’s ancestral domain area. The initiative equips indigenous and non-indigenous communities with practical skills through training in emergency response, environmental stewardship, hygiene, nutrition, and cultural preservation.

Both programs were developed in partnership with Prime Infra Foundation to help host communities achieve sustainable growth while complementing the companies’ energy and water projects.

“The Bantayog ng Lawa Award recognizes the efforts of the management of Ahunan Power and Olympia Violago to implement one of the government’s significant projects in terms of renewable energy and water supply, which I am sure will contribute to more sustainable development in the Laguna de Bay region. Hopefully, with the realization of your project, it will drive more economic prosperity in our region,” said LLDA Environmental Regulations Department Manager III Engr. Emiterio C. Hernández, EnP.

Prime Infra said the recognition affirms its approach of integrating social responsibility and environmental stewardship into its infrastructure projects to ensure long-term community benefits.
