Levanta Renewables closed 2025 with a safety- and health-focused initiative in an off-grid community in Visayas, installing solar-powered streetlights to benefit local residents, students, and teachers. The lighting systems were designed to operate independently from the main grid, addressing concerns of power access constraints.
The company said the program was implemented in areas neighboring its project sites. These unreached communities struggle with access to basic necessities, such as public lighting. The absence of reliable lighting affects mobility, safety, as well as daily activities that occur overnight.
The activity also reached to the education and environment sector of the area. Levanta distributed 148 reusable lunch boxes to students of Sto. Tomas Elementary School, which included members of the Indigenous Ati community. The move was part of broader efforts to reduce the usage of single-use plastics and promote environmental awareness among the youth.
The program was inaugurated through a community activity attended by Levanta representatives, local government officials, school administrators, and residents. The company said the engagement allowed them to hear the concerns of the area and how best to address them.
“Sustainability is embedded in how we develop and operate our projects. It is about creating long-term, measurable value for our host communities alongside the clean energy we deliver. By investing in the areas where we operate, we ensure that our growth is shared and that we remain a responsible, long-term partner in the region’s development,” said Levanta Renewables Chief Executive Officer Pramod Singh.
The Philippines is one amongst Levanta’s key operating markets in Southeast Asia, alongside Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The company oversees renewable energy projects across the country and manages activities from development to construction and finally operation.
As renewable energy projects continue to expand into off-grid and underserved areas, how will community-focused initiatives like this become a standard part of how developers build long-term improvements and acceptance in host communities?
