G-Drive Solutions, Inc. has entered the renewable energy sector through the launch of G-Drive Renewables, a new business line focused on residential, commercial, and industrial solar photovoltaic projects.

The expansion follows the company’s certification as a Huawei solar installer on April 30, 2026. G-Drive Renewables has since begun its first residential rooftop installations across Metro Manila, marking the company’s initial commercial presence in the solar market.

Nelman Marilag, Group Head of Business Development at G-Drive Solutions, said the move builds on the company’s existing experience in providing reliable power systems to clients.

“This is a natural evolution, not a departure,” Marilag said.

G-Drive has operated for more than two decades as a supplier of diesel generator sets and related equipment for quick-service restaurants, hospitals, construction sites, and other facilities that require dependable backup power.

The company said its entry into solar forms part of a wider strategy to provide multiple energy solutions rather than remain focused on a single technology. Its existing customer relationships could also support the expansion of the renewables unit into larger projects.

G-Drive holds a Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) license, allowing the company to bid for commercial and industrial installations as it moves beyond its initial residential projects.

Hospitals, quick-service restaurant chains, and infrastructure operators already served by G-Drive’s generator business are among the potential customers the company intends to target for future solar developments.

The company may also seek to carry its established aftersales model into the renewable energy business. G-Drive’s conventional power operations include maintenance contracts, emergency response, and long-term support for installed equipment.

Solar systems, however, will require a different set of services, including inverter monitoring, panel maintenance, and long-term performance support.

The residential rooftop installations in Metro Manila will serve as an initial test for G-Drive Renewables before the company pursues larger commercial and industrial projects.
