ACEN Corp.‘s retail electricity arm ACEN RES and Ayala-led ACMobility have partnered to offer businesses a bundled solution combining renewable energy supply and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, as the companies seek to accelerate corporate decarbonization and support the expansion of the country’s EV charging network.
In a disclosure to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, ACEN said the partnership will allow commercial and industrial customers of ACEN RES to install EV charging stations at their facilities while sourcing electricity from ACEN’s renewable energy portfolio.
The arrangement enables businesses to power employee charging stations, support corporate EV fleets, or operate public charging facilities as Charge Point Operators (CPOs), creating new opportunities for companies participating in the country’s growing electric mobility sector.
Customers that make their charging stations available to the public will be connected to ACMobility’s charging ecosystem through the Evro app, allowing EV users to locate, access and pay for charging services. The platform also provides automated billing and payment reconciliation for site operators.
The partnership comes as the Philippines works to expand both renewable energy adoption and transport electrification, two sectors viewed as critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering dependence on imported fossil fuels.
“The convergence of clean energy and electric mobility is essential to the Philippines’ energy transition. Through this partnership, we are making it easier for businesses to adopt renewable energy and EV charging solutions, helping accelerate decarbonization across both operations and transport,” ACEN President and Chief Executive Officer Eric Francia said.
ACMobility Chief Executive Officer Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala said pairing EV charging with renewable energy can amplify the environmental benefits of electrified transport.
“Electric mobility delivers even greater value when powered by clean energy. Together with ACEN RES, we are enabling businesses to cut emissions by integrating renewable supply with EV charging,” he said.
The initiative builds on earlier collaboration between the two Ayala Group companies, which previously supplied 100% renewable energy to some of the country’s first ultrafast EV charging stations in Makati City.
The partnership also leverages the market positions of both firms. ACEN RES said six out of 10 participants under the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) have selected the company as their renewable energy supplier, citing Energy Regulatory Commission and Philippine Electricity Market Corp. data.
Meanwhile, ACMobility said it is developing the Philippine EV Spine and currently has EV charging stations in more than 200 locations nationwide.
