Aboitiz Renewables Inc. has earned a gold award at the INQ ESG Edge Impact Awards 2026 for its KaBamboohayan program, a community-based livelihood initiative in Bukidnon that combines indigenous community development with environmental restoration.

The program won in the “Social (Relations with Local Communities)” category during the awards organized by the Inquirer Group of Companies.

Implemented in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, KaBamboohayan is a joint initiative of Aboitiz Renewables and the Aboitiz Foundation that trained 25 Higaonon farmers in bamboo propagation, nursery management, and bamboo processing.

The program also created a market pathway for participants through the Santiago Diversified Farmers Association, providing what the company described as an opportunity for stable and predictable earnings while supporting local livelihoods.

The initiative also promotes bamboo cultivation to help increase forest cover and strengthen soil stability in landslide-prone areas, aligning community development with environmental resilience.

The latest recognition builds on AboitizPower’s previous performance at the Impact Awards. In 2025, the company’s parent firm received a gold award for Governance, Reporting and Transparency and a silver award for its sitio electrification program in Davao City through Davao Light and Power Company.
