Aboitiz Power Corp. is looking to beef up its coal plant technologies in an effort to match international standards in operations.
“Discussions are ongoing with G.E. for our coal facilities. But we are not limiting our options to just GE. We are evaluating others service providers,” Aboitiz Power Chief Operating Officer Emmanuel Rubio told Manila Standard reporters.
“We are looking at ways of enhancing our capabilities for predictive analytics. We already have things in place but we want to expand the capability. The objective is to improve further our availability and reliability, which is already quite good and better than industry standards,” Rubio added.
Rubio was quoted as saying to begin improvements on the coal plants of unit Therma South Inc. in Mindanao. Therma South owns the 300 MW coal-fired power plant in Davao City and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur province.
