The retail electricity arm of the Ayala Group, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), has collaborated with Golden ABC, Inc. (GABC), the international fashion enterprise that owns The Penshoppe Group.
Business World reported that the goal of the Retail Electricity Supply Agreement was to power GABC’s corporate office in Quezon City with 100% renewable energy (RE), aligning with GABC’s shift toward sustainability.
By signing the deal, ACEN RES would be able to guarantee the supply of clean energy from its diverse solar and geothermal resources, potentially saving 2,540 metric tons of carbon emissions every year.
GABC switched to ACEN RES as part of the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) initiative, which was required under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA).
RCOA empowered customers to partner with licensed retail electricity suppliers to purchase a minimum average monthly demand of 500 kilowatts (KW). This initiative aligned with GABC’s long-term sustainability roadmap.
GABC, known brands such as Penshoppe, OXGN, ForMe, Memo, Regatta, and BOCU, has been implementing greener practices across its operations and supply chain. Through its CSR program, Get Up, GABC has initiated sustainability practices in partnership with Plastic Credit Exchange.
