The energy division of the Yuchengco-led PetroEnergy Resources Corporation (PERC), PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC), is wrapping up its site development for the 27-megawatt direct current (MWdc) Dagohoy Solar Power Project in Dagohoy, Bohol.
In a report by the Manila Bulletin, the solar facility, which costs around Php 1.2 billion, is poised to cater to the energy needs of more than 15,000 households in Bohol, reducing their dependence on imported power from Leyte and Cebu.
PGEC site engineer Frederick B. Pizana reported that their contractor, Media Construction and Development Corporation, completed all necessary site construction efforts before they installed solar panels and electrical facilities.
Pizana also noted that, though the company is currently applying for land conversion, the government has assured them that operations can still proceed even with the conversion process underway.
Meanwhile, PGEC VP for Commercial Operations Maria Victoria M. Olivar, reiterated that, without unanticipated issues, the company’s major contractors, Global Electric and Philcantech Enterprises, must be prepared to start power plant construction by the second week of January 2024.
Olivar further expressed assurance that this development is consistent with PGEC’s pledge to the DOE and its off-taker, S.N. Aboitiz Power (SNAP).
Operating as a joint venture, PGEC is a joint initiative between PERC and Kyuden International Corporation, Kyushu Electric Power Company’s foreign investment branch.
