AIKO eyes Southeast Asia growth with high-efficiency solar modules

AIKO is placing high-efficiency solar modules at the center of its growth strategy over the next three to five years as it expands across emerging markets, including Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

In an interview with Power Philippines at the SNEC PV Power Expo in Shanghai, AIKO Senior Business Development Manager Sunitha Murugiah said the company is focused on delivering solar panels that can support different project types and customer needs.

“For the next three to five years, AIKO will deliver high-efficiency solar modules. That’s our key priority,” Murugiah said.

Murugiah said AIKO is differentiating itself in the competitive solar industry through its rapid growth, high-efficiency panels, and expansion across emerging markets, particularly in Southeast Asia, APAC, and Europe.

She said Europe is currently among the company’s strongest markets, with sales in the region continuing to grow, while APAC remains an important area for expansion.

Beyond market growth, Murugiah said AIKO is developing different panel types and sizes for several applications, including floating solar, commercial and industrial projects, and residential installations.

Floating solar refers to solar projects installed on bodies of water, while commercial and industrial systems are typically used by businesses, factories, and large facilities seeking to manage electricity costs and energy use.

“With various types of panels and sizes, we believe AIKO can deliver the best quality product for all our customers,” Murugiah said.

Murugiah said the global solar sector continues to face challenges from price-sensitive markets and supply chain constraints, which have placed pressure on solar manufacturers and developers.

Despite these challenges, she said AIKO remains focused on delivering quality products to customers as solar demand continues to grow across multiple regions.

The company is also working closely with partners, although Murugiah said AIKO could not yet disclose upcoming announcements, partnerships, or initiatives.

The interview took place at SNEC PV Power Expo in Shanghai, where solar manufacturers and technology providers showcased products for a global market that is expanding rapidly but remains highly competitive.

For Southeast Asia and the Philippines, higher-efficiency solar modules have become increasingly relevant as developers, businesses, and households look for ways to maximize generation from limited project sites.

How can high-efficiency solar technologies help Southeast Asian markets accelerate renewable energy deployment while managing cost and reliability challenges?
