Basic Energy Corporation plans to develop a total of 1,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy projects by 2030, comprising 500 MW of wind and 500 MW of solar capacity.
According to a Business World report, the company is currently developing a 50-MW wind power project in Mabini, Batangas, through its joint venture firm RDG Wind Energy Corporation.
The Batangas wind farm, spanning 4,860 hectares, is valued at Php 5 billion and is expected to be operational by 2028.
Basic Energy is also eyeing a 200-MW onshore wind project in Panay Island, with plans to start its wind resource assessment after securing a system impact study from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
In addition, the company is preparing to develop two nearshore wind projects: a 150-MW facility in Calatagan, Batangas, and a 100-MW project in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.
Combined, these three wind projects are projected to cost around USD 760 million.
Meanwhile for solar expansion, Basic Energy is pursuing two solar power projects in Negros and Bataan with a combined capacity of 90 MW.
