Basic Energy secures new contract for Ilocos Wind Project

Basic Energy to acquire equity investments in Thai EPC contractors

Basic Energy Corporation (BEC) has secured another Wind Energy Service Contract (WESC) from the Department of  Energy (DOE) for the Ilocos Nearshore Wind Power Project.

The project, located in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, is the most recent part of Basic Energy’s expanding portfolio of wind-related initiatives.

As per the terms of the service contract, BEC was granted the only authority to explore, employ, and develop wind energy resources inside the 5,502.54 contracted territory by DOE.

The company will begin deploying its resources for the wind resource assessment campaign to verify the wind regime in the said area. Power output from the project is estimated to range from 90 to 112 megawatts (MW), which it may then supply to the grid.

Earlier, BEC proposed to roll out electric buses in the next five years as part of the corporation’s Green Energy E-Transport Program (GEEP) and to take part in the nudge of modernizing the PUJ transport.

The corporation will deploy 10 to 80 class 2 e-bus and secure 82 franchises, one for each province in the country.
