Bukidnon Gets PHP 5.7M in Clean Energy Shares from AboitizPower’s Hedcor

Hedcor, the run-of-river hydropower subsidiary of AboitizPower, has remitted over PHP 5.7 million in community shares to Bukidnon. The amount represents proceeds from its Manolo Fortich 1 and 2 hydropower plants for the second half of 2024.

The province of Bukidnon received PHP 2.18 million. Manolo Fortich town also got PHP 2.18 million, while Impasugong received PHP 1.37 million.

“These annual shares are a vital resource for us,” said Bukidnon Governor Neil Roque. “This year, we’re focusing on education, healthcare, and environmental programs that will have a direct impact on our communities.”

The remittance forms part of the Energy Regulation (ER) 1-94 program, which allocates PHP 0.01 for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) generated by energy facilities to their host communities. The program aims to ensure that local governments benefit directly from hosting power projects.

“This is the kind of impact we work for—where clean energy doesn’t just power homes but also empowers communities,” said Noreen Vicencio, First Vice President and Hydro Business Unit General Manager of Aboitiz Renewables. “Every kilowatt we generate is a building block for a more sustainable and inclusive future.”

Hedcor’s contribution to the community extends beyond revenue shares. The company was recently recognized as one of Manolo Fortich’s top taxpayers in the Manufacturer/Producer (Non-Essential) category during the town’s 108th founding anniversary.

“Hedcor continues to be a strong ally in our journey toward growth and progress,” said Manolo Fortich Mayor Rogelio Quino. “This recognition shows what we can achieve when the public and private sectors share a common vision.”

Hedcor currently operates 22 run-of-river hydropower plants nationwide, including two in Bukidnon. These facilities supply renewable energy to the grid while helping advance local development goals.

The company’s efforts align with AboitizPower’s broader sustainability strategy, “Transforming Energy for a Better World,” which includes responsible business operations and long-term community investments.
