The Department of Energy (DOE) has endorsed 11 power projects to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for a system impact study (SIS) in March 2024.
The array of projects, which are all renewable energy, would offer a combined capacity of around 2,024 megawatts (MW).
These include the 142142.6MW wind project of The Blue Circle Philippines Cebu Corporation, 100MW wind project of First Gen Visayas Energy Inc., 96MW wind project of CleanTech Global Renewables Inc., 532.27MW solar project of Tera Renewables 9 Corporation, 100.05MW solar project of Nanchao Renewable Energy Corporation, 8.82MW solar project of FGen Power Ventures Inc., and a 233.64MW solar project of Ingrid4 Power Corporation.
Also included are the 131.78MW floating solar of NewAsia Power Energy II Corporation, 131.78MW floating solar of Nortesoll Inc., and 147.62MW floating solar of Amara Solar Power Corporation. For wind ventures, there was the 96MW project of CleanTech Global Renewables Inc., and for hydro optimization, there was the 400MW project of San Roque Hydropower Inc.
The DOE’s list also released certificates of endorsement (COEs) to 12 newly proposed power projects and 12 previously approved power projects whose applications have been updated.
These projects are the 1MW diesel plant of the National Power Corporation (NPC), 60MW diesel project of Conal Holdings Corporation, 59.81MW solar plant of Sinocalan Power Corporation, and 57.12MW, 22.83MW, 45.75MW battery energy storage system (BESS) of SMGCP BESS Power Inc.
As for the existing projects endorsed by the department in March, these are the 22.83MW BESS of SMGP, 18.9MW diesel of Mindanao Energy Systems Inc., 254.58MW hydro project of Angat Hydropower Corporation, 6.7MW diesel of Sunwest Water and Electric Company, 14.64MW diesel of SUWECO Tablas Energy Corporation, and several diesel plants of NPC.
In a database by the department, the 11 SIS endorsements comprise eight new applications as well as three amendments. This produced a total of 41 endorsements since the start of 2024.
