DOE Rallies Energy Sector to Safeguard 2025 Elections with Uninterrupted Power

Power PH – DOE Rallies Energy Sector to Safeguard 2025 Elections with Uninterrupted Power

The Department of Energy (DOE) is leading a comprehensive effort to ensure a stable power and fuel supply nationwide, with only one week remaining before the 2025 national and local elections. At the heart of this push is the Energy Task Force Election (ETFE), which has declared full readiness to support a smooth, safe, and credible electoral process.

At a press conference on May 5, Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella, Chair of the Task Force on Energy Resiliency (TFER), said:

“We have taken all necessary steps to support the smooth and credible conduct of the 2025 elections. DOE, through the ETFE, stands ready to respond and coordinate with our partners to maintain uninterrupted energy access across the country.”

From pre-election infrastructure inspections to coordination with security agencies, the ETFE’s work stretches across all segments of the energy supply chain. Its members—spanning public and private entities like NGCP, PNOC, GenCos, and electric cooperatives—have conducted pre-election checks at polling and canvassing centers, cleared high-voltage corridors, and tested Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems in COMELEC facilities.

Fuentebella reaffirmed their confidence in managing expected demand surges:

“We assure the public that the energy sector is fully prepared to ensure an unimpeded power supply before, during, and after the elections. Contingency plans are in place, and we are in constant coordination with security agencies to help ensure a smooth and secure election process.”

The ETFE operates in close coordination with the Commission on Elections and other national security and emergency response agencies.
