EEI RES joins GEOP

EEI-DOE

EEI Energy Solutions Corporation (EEI Energy), the retail electricity supplier (RES) of EEI Power Corporation, said that it recently received the go-signal from the Department of Energy (DOE) to be part of its Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

The Yuchengco-led firm particularly received its GEOP operating permit from the DOE last September, making it the program’s 15th RES participant.

Launched in 2018, the GEOP was established in accordance with Section 9 of Republic Act 9513 or the Renewable Energy (RE) Act of 2008. It acts as a voluntary mechanism that allows contestable consumers to source their power supply from qualified RESs that source electricity from RE. Qualified consumers would be electricity end-users with an average peak demand of 100kW and above for one year.

Aboitiz Power Corporation still has the most RES participants at five, namely Aboitiz Energy Solutions, Adventenergy, Prism EnergySN Aboitiz Power (SNAP)-Magat, and SNAP-RES.

First Gen Corporation follows with three — Bacman Geothermal, Inc.; First Gen Energy Solutions; and Green Core Geothermal, Inc. The Ayalas, meanwhile, have AC Energy and Ayala Land unit DirectPower Services, Inc. Rounding up the list are Citicore Energy Solutions, Inc.Shell Energy Philippines; and SPARC-Solar Powered Agri-Rural Communities Corporation.

EEI Energy also announced that it has signed a retail supply contract with plastic manufacturer Genstar Manufacturing Corporation. Back in September, it signed a deal with a Laguna-based mall and a Batangas-based cooperative.
