Global Business Power Corp (GBCP) has sealed a supply deal with Mabuhay Filcement Inc. under the retail competition and open access (RCOA) scheme.

The company’s official retail energy arm Global Energy Supply Corp. (GESC) is set to supply 10 megawatts (MW) of electrical output to the cement firm for one year.

“The energy and cement manufacturing industries are two of our most dynamic economic sectors, providing synergy where GBPC and Mabuhay Filcement can work together to drive our progress,” GBPC president Rolando Bacani said.

Mabuhay Filcement CEO Enrison Benedicto said GBP’s tradition of operational excellence has gained their trust and led them to choose the company among other retail electricity suppliers (RES).

GESC obtained its RES license in 2011 – giving it the authority to sell to qualified customers under the RCOA. Its supply comes from power plants of which GBCP has an interest in.

With the RCOA regime, contestable consumers are given a choice of electricity suppliers to foster competition in the generation and supply sector.

End-users with an average monthly peak demand of at least one megawatt are required to secure a contract supply from retail electricity suppliers (RES) by February 26, 2017.
