Vietnamese firm IPC E&C Philippines Corporation, an IPC Group subsidiary, has secured a contract to install wind turbines for a 100-megawatt (MW) onshore wind farm in Laguna.
In a report by Inquirer, IPC E&C Philippines announced that it will partner with Goldwind International Philippines, Inc., the main supplier for the Kalayaan 2 onshore wind farm project.
This contract represents IPC’s expansion beyond Vietnam, with the company setting its sights on offshore wind projects in foreign markets.
The Laguna Wind Energy Corporation, in partnership with The Blue Circle, is preparing for the installation of 17 Goldwind turbines, each generating 6 megawatts (MW) of power. The project aims to start turbine installation early next year, with the wind farm set to be operational by 2026, contributing to the region’s renewable energy capacity.
IPC Group stressed the importance of the deal, noting that it is the first Vietnamese firm to secure such a bid in the Philippines, a market traditionally dominated by European companies in the renewable energy sector.
The company boasts experience in Vietnam, where it has been involved in over 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy projects, including wind and solar farms, as well as rooftop solar installations.
The Philippine government, under the Marcos administration, aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 35% by 2030, from its current level of 22%.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has been conducting green energy auctions to support this goal, with a focus on expanding offshore wind energy projects in the coming years.
