Meralco bags Grand Stevie, 11 honors at Asia-Pacific awards

Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has secured the Grand Stevie Award and 11 additional distinctions at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards in Macao, highlighting the power distributor’s expanding footprint in sustainability, innovation, and corporate social impact.

The company, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, was among the most awarded organizations in the regional competition, which drew over 1,000 nominations from 29 markets across more than 150 categories.

At the center of Meralco’s haul was its campaign “No One Left in the Dark: How Meralco Brought 24/7 Sustainable Power to Cagbalete Island,” which received the Grand Stevie Award as the highest-rated entry among submissions from the four nations with the most entries.

The initiative also secured two Gold Stevies, recognizing its work under sustainability, climate protection, and corporate social responsibility video categories.

The project focused on bringing reliable electricity to off-grid communities in Cagbalete Island in Quezon province, positioning it as a model for inclusive electrification through clean energy deployment.

Meralco also earned a Gold Stevie for its first integrated corporate report.

“Integrating Performance, Purpose, and Progress through the first One Meralco Integrated Report 2024” was cited under innovation in annual reports for consolidating financial, operational, sustainability, and governance disclosures into a single document.

In leadership recognition, Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Audit Executive Melanie T. Oteyza was named Thought Leader of the Year, also receiving a Gold Stevie.

“Earning this recognition is a powerful reminder of why purposeful leadership matters, and I am honored to bring this award home to Meralco as we remain committed to building a future defined by trust, accountability, and positive impact,” Oteyza said.

“This honor reinforces my dedication to driving thought leadership that transforms progress in our region through risk consciousness, digital preparedness, and inclusive leadership,” she added.

Meralco First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo was likewise awarded Climate Hero of the Year for the third consecutive year, also a Gold Stevie recognition.

“This honor is a tribute to the nearly 20,000 women and men of One Meralco who work tirelessly not only to keep the lights on for over eight million customers, but also to power a cleaner, more inclusive future for our nation,” Ravelo said.

“This recognition fuels our resolve to keep advancing—as a power company and as a partner in building sustainable progress for all,” he added.

Beyond the Gold awards, Meralco also secured a Silver Stevie for its “Greening the Network” campaign under climate and environmental impact.

The initiative was recognized for upgrading operations and infrastructure through the integration of sustainable solutions and renewable energy at scale.

Five Bronze Stevies rounded out the company’s haul, including recognitions for its holiday campaign “Liwanag Park 2025: A Brighter Christmas for All,” its community electrification partnership in Batangas with the Archdiocese of Lipa, and an internal audit literacy forum.
