Mabuhay Energy Wins First RAP Customer, Helps SunGlobe Cut Power Costs Through Aggregated Supply

Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO) has secured its first customer under the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), signing a bundled electricity supply deal with SunGlobe Enterprises, a top manufacturer of flexible plastic packaging for the local fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

The partnership allows SunGlobe to aggregate the electricity demand of its four facilities to meet the 500 kilowatt (kW) threshold required to participate in RAP. The signing ceremony was held on May 7, 2025, at SunGlobe’s headquarters in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.

SunGlobe is a leading supplier of food-grade flexible plastic packaging used by companies across the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. With the transition to the RAP, the company now gains access to more cost-efficient and reliable power supply, enabling improved operational performance and long-term energy savings.

Jacqueline Castillo, President and CEO of MECO, thanked SunGlobe for its trust and recalled the company’s journey from being a startup with no affiliation to generation companies or distribution utilities.

“How we started wasn’t easy. No affiliation to any generation companies, nor were we connected to distribution utilities,” Castillo said. “We didn’t come from an established network—just our commitment to deliver real value to our customers. Thank you for trusting us. We promise to work hard to be the long-term partner your business can rely on.”

SunGlobe President and CEO Wilson Go shared that the company began exploring the retail electricity market during the pandemic but had limited understanding of how the system worked. Among the several suppliers who approached them, Go said it was only Mabuhay Energy that stayed engaged and transparent throughout the process.

“We started actively looking for a RES partner last year—and among those who reached out, it was only Mabuhay Energy who consistently followed through, continued the conversation, and helped us understand the value of RES,” Go said.

Mabuhay Energy is actively promoting the RAP to support more businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises, in optimizing their electricity costs and improving operational efficiency. By enabling access to flexible retail contracts, the company hopes to accelerate competition in the power market and empower consumers through informed energy choices.

SunGlobe’s entry into the RAP not only unlocks savings and reliability for its operations but also signals broader opportunities for Philippine manufacturers to rethink their energy sourcing strategies.
