President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is pushing the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to finish its energy expansion initiatives within the designated timeframe.

In the ceremonial energization of the Cebu-Negros-Panay (CNP) Backbone Project Stage 3 in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Marcos Jr. stressed that the punctual execution of projects is critical to evade power disruptions as well as guarantee the further development of the remaining transmission projects to secure the power in the grid, said Inquirer in its report.

The president added that the Department of Energy (DOE) had been working with the NGCP.

NGCP has been in hot waters due to the continuous power fluctuations in various areas, including the Panay blackouts last January. Marcos Jr. said NGCP was to blame for the blackouts due to its failure to perform its function.

Marcos said that the power outages slowed down the country’s progress.

NGPC said the goal of establishing CNP was to advance the transmission network in the Visayas region, and this project was a critical juncture in securing the stability of the transmission grid in the country.
