Manila Electric Company (Meralco) assured customers with pending billing concerns that their electricity service will not be disconnected while their cases are still under investigation.
“We would like to clarify that electricity service of Meralco customers with pending billing concerns will not be disconnected while their cases are under investigation,” Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.
Meralco also reiterated that disconnection activities remain suspended nationwide for consumers with unpaid balances covering the May to July 2026 billing periods, in line with the earlier order of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
“We also reiterate that disconnection activities for all consumers with unpaid balances covering the May to July billing periods remain suspended,” Zaldarriaga explained.
The clarification comes amidst concerns over electricity bills and billing disputes that have circulated on social media in recent weeks.
Meralco encouraged customers with questions about their electricity bills, consumption, or meter reading to raise these through the company’s official customer service channels.
“We continuously address the concerns of all customers regarding their electricity bills, consumption, or meter reading through our official customer touch points. Rest assured that we have been diligently reviewing and resolving every customer concern brought to our attention,” Zaldarriaga said.
The clarification is significant for customers who may be worried that raising a billing complaint or having unpaid balances during the covered period could immediately lead to disconnection.
