Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) has extended support to more than 40,000 students, teachers, and school staff across 34 public schools in 11 provinces, as part of its participation in the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela 2025.
With nearly 400 employee-volunteers and over Php 1 million worth of donations, MGEN provided classroom and office supplies, audiovisual equipment, construction materials, and cleaning tools tailored to the needs identified by each school. Volunteers also helped repaint classrooms, repair infrastructure, and clean school grounds in areas spanning Luzon to Visayas — including Bulacan, Cebu, Aklan, Iloilo, Batangas, Isabela, Tarlac, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Metro Manila, and Quezon.
“At MGEN, we believe that energy powers progress — not just through buildings, businesses, and factories, but also through people. Education is one of the most powerful drivers of that progress, and we are proud to support initiatives like Brigada Eskwela that invest in the future of our youth,” said MGEN President and CEO Emmanuel V. Rubio.
This initiative was carried out through the combined efforts of MGEN’s thermal and renewable energy subsidiaries. By collaborating with local school officials, MGEN ensured that its assistance was both timely and impactful.
MGEN’s engagement in Brigada Eskwela underlines its commitment to education and inclusive development in host communities. The company sees school support as integral to building resilient communities and securing long-term growth in areas where it operates.
