MORE Electric and Power Corporation is leading Iloilo City’s energy future with the region’s most affordable power rates, over 1.9 million safe man-hours, and a citywide tree and mangrove planting campaign.

Since taking over Iloilo City’s electricity distribution in 2020, MORE Power has transformed from a newcomer into one of the most trusted power utilities in the region. The company currently offers the lowest residential electricity rate in Western Visayas at PHP 11.3263/kWh, made possible through a deliberate shift toward long-term power supply agreements.

According to Niel V. Parcon, Vice President for Corporate Energy Sourcing and Regulatory Affairs, 66% of MORE Power’s energy supply now comes from long-term contracts, significantly reducing reliance on the volatile spot market. This forward-looking strategy shields consumers from sudden power price hikes and contributes to consistent billing.

“By prioritizing long-term sourcing, we’re able to keep rates steady even in unpredictable market conditions,” Parcon said.

Beyond affordability, MORE Power has made safety a top operational priority. The company recently became a member of the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI), a national network that promotes workplace safety, health, and environmental standards.

As of October 2024, MORE Power reported 1.9 million safe man-hours, underscoring its strong internal safety culture and commitment to both worker and community well-being.

“This membership in SOPI is a testament to MORE Power’s unwavering commitment to safety, health, and environmental protection,” said President and CEO Roel Z. Castro. “We are proud to join this esteemed organization and contribute to its mission of promoting a culture of safety across the Philippines.”

MORE Power’s environmental efforts are equally ambitious. On November 5, 2024, the company led a mangrove planting and coastal cleanup drive in Barangay Hinactacan, in partnership with local agencies. The activity resulted in the planting of 200 mangrove saplings, part of a broader commitment to plant 10,000 trees and mangroves across Iloilo City.

To date, MORE Power has planted over 1,000 mangroves and nearly 9,500 trees, making tangible contributions to coastal protection, carbon capture, and urban reforestation.

“This mangrove planting is part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and reflects our integrated approach to create a cleaner, greener Iloilo City,” Castro said. “By investing in these green initiatives, we are demonstrating our dedication to being responsible stewards of the environment.”

From rate reduction and safety compliance to climate action and community engagement, MORE Power is demonstrating that being a power distributor today means more than just keeping the lights on—it means shaping a sustainable future for the people it serves.
