MWSS targets 45-day Angat Hydropower plant restoration

Phinma Energy to pursue waste-to-energy projetcs, reenter hydropower

Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) aims Angat hydropower plant’s reservoir rehabilitation to be completed in just 45 days, overtaking the imposed 61-day schedule by 16 days.

In a report by the Philippine Star,  MWSS Division Manager Patrick Dizon assures the public that Angat Hydro Corp. will fully cover the dam’s rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation is set to commence on November 6 and is anticipated to finish on January 6, 2024.

Dizon expressed the ambitious goal of reducing the shutdown duration to 45 days and noted that the National Water Resources Board allocated a water supply of 50 cubic meters per second for Maynilad and Manila Water, exceeding the previous norm set by the NWRB.

Maynilad’s Vice President, Ronald Padua, highlighted that the dam’s primary inner structure was temporarily shut down during this process. At the same time, the low-level outlet and spillway remained open to supply water to the Ipo Dam.
