The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) shared that it has already submitted ancillary services (AS) contracts to be approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

A report by the Business World revealed that NGCP had requested temporary approval from the ERC for four AS Procurement Agreements (ASPAs) with Western Mindanao Power Corporation, Mapalad Power Corporation, and SN-Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9136, also known as the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001, ancillary services refer to the services that facilitated the transmission of energy from resources to loads while maintaining the operations of the transmission system.

In April, the ERC announced that the NGCP had already issued the notices of awards for 36 ASPAs, with 14 applications pending a hearing after being filed with the commission.

As of June, the ERC has confirmed that the approval process for the 36 ASPAs is underway. These contracts were signed following the competitive selection process recommended by the Department of Energy (DOE).
