National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said overall transmission rates reflected in consumers’ January 2026 electricity bills went down following a decline in charges for the December 2025 billing period.
In a statement, NGCP said the overall average transmission rate decreased by 0.68% to PHP 1.3455 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), from PHP 1.3547 per kWh previously. These charges are billed to consumers this month through their respective distribution utilities and electric cooperatives.
The grid operator said Ancillary Services (AS) charges were recorded at PHP 0.5971 per kWh. AS charges cover the cost of reserve power services sourced from the AS Reserve Market and from providers with bilateral contracts with NGCP.
Meanwhile, NGCP’s transmission wheeling rate — the fee for delivering electricity through the national grid — stood at PHP 0.6058 per kWh.
“For the January 2026 electric bill of end consumers, NGCP charges only 60 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” the company said, noting that its revenues are regulated and capped by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
NGCP said transmission charges for the December billing period are passed on to end-users through distribution utilities and electric cooperatives.
How much impact do transmission-related adjustments have on household electricity bills compared with other cost components such as generation and distribution?
