The Department of Energy (DOE) has extended the deadline for the submission of 2025 energy compliance reports, giving businesses more time to comply as the government works to stabilize supply during the ongoing national energy emergency.
The new deadline for Designated Establishments (DEs) is set for May 15, 2026, covering key reports required under the country’s energy efficiency and conservation program.
These reports are typically submitted by large energy users and are used by the government to track how much energy is being consumed, how efficiently it is being used, and what measures are in place to reduce demand.
The extension is part of broader measures under Executive Order No. 110, which declared a national energy emergency and directed agencies to take steps to safeguard energy supply and manage demand.
The DOE said the extension applies to the Annual Energy Utilization Report (AEUR), Annual Energy Efficiency and Conservation Report (AEECR), and Energy Audit Reports (EARs), where applicable.
These documents provide detailed information on a company’s energy use, efficiency programs, and audit findings, which helps authorities identify areas where consumption can be reduced and efficiency improved.
All submissions must be made through the DOE’s official online portal, with off-system submissions considered invalid to ensure accurate data collection and proper monitoring.
According to the department, the move is intended to help capture reliable and high-quality data that can guide policy decisions, improve energy use, and strengthen conservation efforts during the energy emergency.
Designated Establishments are also reminded to continue submitting their monthly Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) implementation reports as scheduled.
The DOE said these reports play a key role in tracking energy consumption and supporting measures to optimize usage across sectors.
As the government strengthens demand-side measures, how can businesses improve compliance while contributing to more efficient energy use?
