NGCP sets Php66B budget for Operation, Maintenance program

PR285_20201019_Gatchalian tells NGCP: proceed with public stock

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has proposed over Php 66 billion budget in capital expenditure (CAPEX) for its 19-year operation and maintenance (O&M) program to help increase the reliability of the grid.

In a report by BusinessMirror, the program will amount to Php66.644 billion and will be broken down to Php41.452 billion for asset replacements, Php6.732 billion for compliance with standards, Php3.835 billion for technology installation, Php7.065 billion for maintenance equipment, and Php7.56 billion for resilient operation.

NGCP’s program also includes the grid protection relay replacement project (GPRRP) which will take place in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao grids. With a bulk cost estimate of Php8.893 billion, the project is expected to be completed in 2025.

NGCP said that its goal is to meet the Performance Incentive Scheme (PIS) targets set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). The programs will be filed to the ERC for each regulatory period.

The NGCP earlier said that it has allotted a CAPEX of Php160 billion to fund its various transmission projects in Metro Manila and nearby provinces until 2025.

The transmission company is also pursuing projects for the Visayas Grid, as well as expanding the regional control center in Cebu. Meanwhile, in Mindanao, NGCP is advancing on the construction of the Mindanao substation expansion.

NGCP recently signed Php 20.2 billion worth of new transmission project contracts.

In June, NGCP sought for Energy Regulatory Commission’s approval on the Camarines Sur-Catanduanes Interconnection project.
