Prime Integrated Waste Solutions Inc. (PWS), a subsidiary of Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc., has begun offering low-carbon refuse-derived fuel (RDF) made from processed municipal solid waste.
“PWS was established with the strategic objective of significantly reducing landfilled waste to 20 percent or less through modern waste management and resource recovery solutions. By harnessing the potential of RDF, we convert waste into a valuable resource, creating a direct positive impact on the environment and the community,” Prime Infra President and CEO Guillaume Lucci said in a statement.
PWS currently has operations in Cebu, where it receives and handles roughly 1,000 tons of municipal solid trash daily.
The garbage that would enter the plant would be separated to recover recyclable waste, which would then be further categorized into RDF material and sorted to guarantee the material complies with the standards.
These materials would then be shredded to reduce their size and fed into the facility’s baling machine for safe transport and delivery.
Furthermore, the company announced its plans to semi-automate the Cebu facility by investing in advanced equipment for waste segregation and storage. This investment would enhance the sorting and recovery processes and align it with Prime Infra’s goal of transforming reclaimed resources into sustainable fuels like pyrolysis oil, green methanol, and renewable natural gas.
“With new and state-of-the-art equipment coming in, our goal in terms of RDF supply from our Cebu facility is to increase capacity to at least 100 tons per day,” said Prime Infra Waste Sector Lead Carla Angelica Peralta.
