Prime Infrastructure’s subsidiary, Prime Solar Solutions Corporation, has launched its 64-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Maragondon, Cavite.
“The plant inaugurated today is certainly a part of Prime Infra’s wider sustainable strategy and continue to be very much aligned to our purpose of building better lives and resilient economies through critical infrastructure,” said Prime Infra president and chief executive officer Guillaume Lucci.
The Maragondon solar facility can produce energy for around 84,000 households and can replace over 100,000 tons of coal per year, making a significant impact on environmental conservation initiatives.
The recently constructed solar plant is a part of Prime Solar’s 128 MW pilot project, which likewise includes a plant in Tanauan, Batangas. They were constructed in April 2023.
In other developments, Prime Solar also acquired a power supply agreement with the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) for a capacity of 50 MW, with a duration of 20 years.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has ordered distribution utility firms such as MERALCO to obtain 2.52% of their energy requirement from renewable energy sources.
