Razon foundations consolidate social impact arms into unified platform

Six corporate foundations under businessman Enrique K. Razon Jr. have formed a unified platform aimed at streamlining and scaling environmental and community development initiatives across the Philippines.

The Razon Group of Foundations was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signing on May 22 at La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City, bringing together the social development arms of the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation (BCFI), ICTSI Foundation (IF), Malampaya Foundation (MFI), Manila Water Foundation, Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation (MBCFI), and Prime Infra Foundation (PIF).

The group said the platform is intended to align ongoing programs on biodiversity conservation, water stewardship, livelihoods, environmental education, and climate resilience, areas increasingly tied to infrastructure development and utility operations.

Speaking during the signing, BCFI President Donato Almeda said coordination across the foundations would improve impact and resource use

The foundations operate across distinct but complementary mandates. MWF focuses on water and sanitation programs, while the BCFI supports initiatives based on identified community needs. MFI and MBCFI work in areas along Malampaya’s pipeline corridors and biodiversity zones, while the PIF provides broader multi-sector support. The group’s original philanthropic arm, the ICTSI Foundation, serves as the group’s anchor institution.

“There is strength in numbers. This is true in anything we do. When we have the resources, we can do a lot, since most of us have many dedications,” Almeda said. “Helping is in our hearts, not only for the environment, the less fortunate, or those who need our help, but also for the preservation of life.”

The event coincided with the International Day for Biodiversity and included tree-planting activities and seedling turnover for watershed rehabilitation efforts led by Malampaya Foundation and Manila Water Foundation.

An exhibit showcasing livelihood products from partner communities was also launched at La Mesa Ecopark and will run until May 31.

“When we work together, I am assured that the Razon Group of Foundations will leave a deeper environmental footprint, a wider reach for regions and communities, creating a lasting impact that will be felt by generations to come,” said MWF Board Member Arnold Mortera.

The platform is expected to support more coordinated planning and delivery of programs across the group’s infrastructure-linked foundations.

Will this unified structure materially improve the efficiency and scale of corporate-led sustainability programs in the Philippines—or mainly streamline existing efforts?

With major infrastructure-linked foundations now operating under a unified framework, how significant could this be in scaling environmental and social impact alongside energy, water, and logistics development in the Philippines?
