EDC to hold first climate change and renewable energy quiz bee

Heads up to all Negros island college students: brush up on your climate change and renewable energy topics.

The Energy Development Corporation is set to hold the Positive Energy Battle of the Brains (BOTB), a gathering of the smartest and most environmentally-conscious students to represent their schools in a quiz bee.

“Last year, we heard the best musical bands thing their own songs about the environment in the Positive Energy Battle of the Bands, but this year will bring the students in the Positive Energy Battle of the Brains,” EDC Corporate Communications Officer Frances Ariola said.

Aside from climate change and renewable energy, the quiz bee will focus on environmental preservation and sustainable development.

Negros Occidental schools will have their semi-finals match in Bacolod on September 28, and Negros Oriental will have theirs on September 30.

The top three schools from Negros Occidental and Oriental will compete in the grand finals in Dumaguete City on November 12, 2016.

A cash prize of P20, 000 and a trip to EDC’s geothermal site in Valencia, Negros Oriental await the champion team, and P30, 000 will go to their respective school.
