To ensure the energy security of the Luzon grid, Lopez-led First Gen Corp.’s subsidiary FGEN LNG Corp. has announced the commissioning of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, accelerating its ability to introduce LNG to the Philippines.

This initiative leads to a significant development in its LNG projects and will aid in meeting the needs of both current and prospective gas-fired power plants of third parties and FGEN’s associated firms.

In a report by Business Mirror, First Gen Executive Vice President Jonathan Russell stated that the LNG terminal is currently in the commissioning process and they look forward to maximizing LNG as they strive towards attaining the energy security requirements of the country.

Its subsidiary First Gen Singapore Pte. Ltd., the company mentioned it recently tapped Shell Eastern Trading Pte. Ltd. earlier to serve 154,500 cubic meters of LNG cargo that will be transported by an LNG carrier.

The BW Batangas floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) situated at Subic Bay will be gassed up and cooled down before transferring into the storage tanks aboard.

The cargo will return to FGEN LNG’s terminal in Batangas to complete its commissioning activities after the LNG transfer.
