Trina Solar, known for its solar photovoltaics (PVs) and energy storage solutions, is entering into an agreement to supply solar cell panels for PetroGreen Energy Corporation’s (PGEC) solar projects.
In a report by Manila Bulletin, the partnership, outlined in a master supply agreement (MSA), required Trina Solar to provide PV modules for 117 megawatts (MW) of solar projects by PGEC subsidiary Rizal Green Energy Corporation.
The solar PV modules supplied by Trina Solar would be utilized in PetroGreen’s projects in Isabela, Nueva Ecija, and Pangasinan.
Additionally, Trina Solar’s agreement with PetroGreen allowed the latter to explore various module types, including advanced cell technology and Vertex products suitable for utility and commercial and industrial (C&I) applications.
Furthermore, PetroGreen would also be able to look into the integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar tracker systems into its facilities, as well as choose modules that maximize performance and efficiency.
The corporation also said that the three new projects would require over 129,000 modules, which were expected to generate an energy turnover of 129.14 gigawatt hours (GWh) annually.
Upon completion, these solar farms are projected to meet the electricity needs of approximately 53,800 residential end-users based on average household consumption.
The partnership between PetroGreen and Trina Solar went as far back as 2015 when PetroGreen initiated the commercial development of its 27MW Dagohoy solar farm project in Bohol, reportedly the first large-scale solar farm on the island.
