Aboitiz Power Corporation’s renewable energy (RE) arm, Aboitiz Renewables Inc. (ARI), has energized its 173 megawatt peak (MWp) Calatrava Solar Project.

“Calatrava is our fifth energized solar facility and the largest capacity thus far in AboitizPower’s growing solar generation portfolio…It adds more clean energy to the power mix, as well as valuable green jobs to the community,” said ARI President Jimmy Villaroman.

According to ARI, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) assisted in energizing the plant for electricity delivery via the Calatrava substation.

AboitizPower has energized 512 megawatts (MW) worth of energy projects, highlighting its commitment to renewable and sustainable energy solutions.

Among these are the 159-megawatt peak (MWp) Laoag Solar and 94 MWp Cayanga-Bugallon Solar power plants in Pangasinan, the 17 MW Tiwi Binary Geothermal Power Plant in Albay, and the 24 MW Magat Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Isabela by SN Aboitiz Power. Just last month, the company also brought online the 45 MWp Armenia Solar Project in Tarlac.

AboitizPower is advancing its renewable energy initiatives with over 1,000 MW of disclosed projects from indigenous sources while actively seeking to enhance its capabilities in solar, hydro, geothermal, wind, and energy storage technologies.
