Uratex, the leading sleep specialist of the Philippines and foam and mattress producer, has shown its dedication to sustainability by converting four additional facilities to run entirely on renewable energy. This transition was made possible through a collaboration with ACEN RES, the Ayala group’s retail electricity unit.
ACEN RES, to commemorate such achievement, presented Uratex with the “Powered by Renewable Energy” gold badge. This prestigious award underscores the company’s leadership in adopting clean energy solutions in its field. ACEN RES’s “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge stands out as the first in the Philippines. This achievement represents a company’s firm dedication to environmental responsibility through the use of renewable power.
The Uratex sites, which are now powered by green energy, are located in Magallanes, Shaw, Marcos Highway (Metro Manila), and Isabela. They join seven other locations across Luzon and Cebu that have already transitioned under the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a government-led initiative that enables consumers to switch to renewable energy and select their preferred provider.
This also serves to further highlight Uratex’s all-encompassing sustainability framework, which includes the creation of innovative products made from recycled materials. Another praise-worthy effort to renewable and sustainable development.
Peachy Cheng-Medina, managing director of Uratex Group of Companies, said: “We recognize the importance of strong partnerships, and we’re incredibly grateful to have ACEN. We look up to the Ayala Group and appreciate how our smaller steps towards sustainability are supported by your larger vision. Thank you for your partnership and for inspiring us to push forward.”
Miguel de Jesus, managing director and chief operating officer for Philippine Operations at ACEN, emphasized the importance of the alliance: “We are thrilled to celebrate Uratex’s expanded commitment to renewable energy. This partnership not only helps accelerate the sustainability journey of Uratex but also enables ACEN to build more renewable energy capacity and support the country’s goal of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix.
“We look forward to a continued and expanding collaboration, exploring opportunities beyond just energy supply. We are committed to nurturing strong partnerships within the Ayala group, and we see immense potential to create synergies across our diverse businesses, including banking, communications, green mobility, and land development. By working together, we can unlock new avenues for innovation and sustainable growth,” he added.
What other companies should take the initiative to opt for renewable energy? Are there already existing entities that also deserve praise for their sustainability efforts?
